It's a GO

I just received an email from the Visual arts director for the Cambridge Arts Festival and it's a go ! I get to set up a table at the annual event and display and hopefully sell some of my beaded art pieces. This event is just one of amazing events in Cambridge. No it is not Toronto but a lot of us here are fine with that. We are a diverse community; amalgamated in 1973 from the cities and towns of Galt,Preston and Hespeler. We have the Grand River running through which has amazing focal points. Boardwalks and walking trails. Bike and Hike trails. Ok ok ! So this is supposedly about the beaded art; but I love Cambridge and all we have to offer.

Come visit if you can.

Art Sale

So..........I have close to fifty pieces of beaded jewellery all ready to go . Hopefully I can post some pics very soon. I am doing some writing again. Once I got the confirmation that I am a finalist for a literary award; I figured I owed people some more of my writing. Check my sister site at joelethbridge.blogspot.com

Hoping

I recieved a letter yesterday from The Bernice Adams Memorial Awards Committe saying that i am a finalist in the literary field. I was blown away yet remain very humble. Writing is another outlet; one I hope to mesh with beading.  I am also in contention with having a booth set up at the Cambridge Arts Festival selling my beaded designs. I hope I can . I hope I can. Dealing with anxiety a 10 am to 8 pm day may be a bit much. Maybe I can get someone to help me out. Or do it in shifts. I will let you know how things turn out

Beaded shoes !!!

Last night I was home and not one who is big into tv; I decided something just a bit different than beaded jewellery. I have a pair of black canvas shoes and though they are showing the wear and tear of daily walking miles' they are comfortable. I wear them with no laces so the tongues hang out like a thirsty dog. On the one tongue I beaded red beads into a shiny heart. On the outer part of the show I beaded my name. On the other shoe I beaded S M I L E in shiny orange beads. It may be different but its all a part of me. I am now mending a friends broken watchband. Rather than simply replace it with a leather band I am beading  him one on elastic cord. I have to admit it is looking quite sharp.  I may have to do the same for my own.

Please continue to pass along the link to linxoflove. It is you who inspire me to go on and create.

jewellery Board

last night I painted up an old slab of wood all black and hung some of my jewellery from hooks. I have to admit that on a black background it makes the colours appear more vibrant. Just yesterday alone I made 11 more pieces-mostly keytags. I seem to be on a roll . Now if only I could have it sell. Check out a great supplier of beads and beading supplies here. Go here. LinxofLove and PRIDE jewellery

I wanted to let you know that I do make Pride jewellery but I want to mention to anyone; especially the younger ones that wearing Pride jewellery is not a prerequisite of being proud. I would be lying if I said I knew where the entire idea of wearing a rainbow colored item signifies pride.

It is more important; in my opinion to be Proud of who you are;rather than what sector of society we are. I am proud of my achievements and am proud of decisions I made and proud of the bad decisions I did not make. For the bad decisions that I did follow through on; I am proud of what I learned

I was proud of all these before "coming out gay" Being gay is not an achievement. For those younger readers; do not feel pressured to wear pride unless it is totally your choice.  If you are questioning; it is up to you and you alone when and if you come out. I have gotten much slack from some; but any counsellor can help you. It does not have to be a "gay" oriented counsellor only. It is my opinion that together we stand and as seperate communities we will falter. These are my own opinions and though I have no Phd or any degrees I believe it is up to the individual to find what is best for him or herself.  We are individuals- we do not have to buy into any self imposed or forced stereotypes. There is one organization I know that is awesome though gay and questioned based; they are a wealth of information and worthwhile to contact. They are truly focused on the well being of youth; no matter which sector they may fall into.  OK2BME

More About Linxoflove and myself

LinxofLove as I mentioned came to creation and was born without much of a warning. Myself; however I was concieved and delivered in about 9 months.  LinxofLove the blog spot is not all LinxofLove is. There are just 17 or so pieces shown on here.  Others are near completion but I need to get findings to complete and post photos.

It is a long and arduous task, but one I do love and get much from. It takes me away from it all . If there is anything in particular that you are looking for; please do not hesitate to email me at joelethbridge2@yahoo.ca.

I also am looking forward to making bridal or groomsmen bracelets. I merely need the color scheme. I already have the imagination flowing. I do hope you enjoy this site and some of the the pieces. Even if you do not wish to purchase any please comment. It inspires me more.

LinxOfLove@ Ideas in Art, by Design

Throughout life we learn from the pearls of wisdom
On our own and from others trials and tribulations
It is through these pearls of wisdom that can give Hope flight
With Hope; all is possible
I hope this charm gives you renewed hope

“May Hope Take Flight and Carry You Forward”

LinxofLove was given birth to without warning. After visiting a local coffee shop and talking with a woman who was undergoing breast cancer treatments and giving her a hug and best wishes . I thought and somewhere inside me, knew there was more that I could do.

I went home and designed and made a bracelet for her; returned the following day and gave it to her.  She was truly touched by the trinket I gave her .

LinxofLove@ was born.  As sappy as it sounds; I think it is love for one another that links us together.

I made a few others for people with ovarian cancer, testicular cancer and a woman whose husband had Alzheimer’s.

I am now making them as a way of raising funds for ACCKWA (The AIDS Committee of Cambridge Kitchener Waterloo and Area).

I have also put my love of writing with my beaded art. It seems that my stories have taken a second breathe and some live again in my beaded creations.

I will describe myself as this; without shame.
I am an unemployed self-employed artist who took to beading as a way to deal with anxiety-depression.

If you are interested in my designs or know of anyone who is please let me know. I am also looking for donations of broken or no longer used jewellery.

You may contact me at joelethbridge2@yahoo.ca

Thank you so much and “may hope take flight and carry you forward”

I am posting as many photos as possible. I make jewellery on a daily basis and most are one of a kind pieces.  i am hoping to perhaps make some as bridal party sets or even for groomsmen.

Prices shown do not include postage and handling.  Shipping fees will vary based on local and weight. often between $4.95 and $8.95 I can also write a personalized poem at an additional cost.

Please look at the items and hopefully there are a few that will hit a chord with you.
